On a rec from a friend, I dove into this last night... I have no words. It touched me on so many different levels, I can't stop thinking about it.

Rating System
Was thinking about adding a rating system with each story post so you could rate the stories as to how much you loved or liked ala Goodreads.
Good idea or bad idea? Let me know in the comments...

Age of Edward Contest 2012

I've been wanting to write something for the Age of Edward contest for a long time, but never felt ready until now. This year I took a leap and was amazingly rewarded with Third Place in the public vote in the Adult Category. Totally floored and humbled.
This is me wanting to thank everyone. Please indulge me...lol
There were a few people who were instrumental in inspiring me to do this. A few I only know by their Twitter names. I had been thinking Civil War because there was so many different sides to the war and so many different aspects that had never been explored. My brother happens to be quite the Civil War buff so finding the resources was easy. TwiHusband on Twitter had mentioned that someone should write a Civil War Edward. We had a small conversation about it and he prompted me to watch 'Gettysburg'. Everything took off from there. In my research, I read letters from soldiers to their loved ones. It was then I came up with the idea about the letter.
From there, my beta nic encouraged me to write. She has an amazing skill to make things look so pretty. I owe her so much. And she's just an awesome person to boot. Then, I saw that ange_de_laube had wanted to do a banner for AoE. Since we had worked together in the past she put together the ideas. She was also awarded Third Place in the Banner contest for AoE 2012. Very cool.
Also, so many thanks need to go to the organizers and judges of the Age of Edward Contest 2012: songster51, m81170, deb24601, jennde, kneon, lterthqak, myonlyheroin, risbee, roglows, roselover24, sassyk, TLammy, vixen1836, shell29bell and allissmith It's incredibly tough work putting together a contest and everything ran so incredibly smoothly on our end, I couldn't thank them enough. And congrats to all of the winners and entrants this year. There are some amazing stories in there. Please! Go Read! http://www.ageofedward.com/?page_id=287
And thank you to everyone who voted!

My Favorite Book Right Now...
I usually don't lean towards dystopian novels but after reading the Hunger Games series which I really liked, I opened myself up to the other possibilities.
When I read Divergent I was in heaven. It gave me more where I felt HG failed.
Then in my search to fill a hole waiting for Insurgent, the second book in the series by Veronica Roth (which is coming out soon), I followed the rec of some of my book friends. Shatter Me http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/10429045-shatter-me follows the story of a girl who is locked up for something she is, something she can't control, and something she doesn't understand. Then a boy, who knows who she really is comes to her side to protect the person he knows she can be. I realize not everyone may like it as much as I do but her characters Juliette and Adam have stuck with me in their struggle to be free and who they really are. I seriously love it. I am already listening to the audiobook for my second 'reread'...
